Kevlar® Sewing Thread
Kevlar® sewing threads are incredibly strong and flame resistant (up to 425°C). They are ideal for sewing kevlar® fabrics and wicks for those who need to produce their own specialist equipment etc. These threads are used in racing car driver suits, furnace and blast equipment clothes, fire-fighter protective wear, oven gloves (!) and of course fire juggling equipment etc.
These threads are suitable for either hand sewing or sewing machines but note that the thicker threads may not be suitable for some domestic machines. They are not waxed and they are not suitable for unravelling to produce magicians’ thread. The higher the Tex number, the thicker the thread. Tex-40 is equivalent to most ‘normal’ thread widths.
